M/s Konkan LNG Pvt. Ltd. (KLPL) has a LNG import terminal located near Dabhol on the west coast of India, about 185 Km, south of Bombay. The Terminal consists of:
- Jetty area – ship unloading system
- Process Area –
- LNG send-out system consists of the 3 LNG storage tanks where the LNG is stored, 9 LNG send out pumps which are installed inside the LNG tanks and are used to pump the LNG out of the tanks, the LNG condenser which serves as an intermediate storage vessel, where the boil off gas from the tanks is condensed, 3 low pressure LNG booster pumps, and four high pressure booster pumps, 3 low pressure, LNG vaporizers, three high pressure vaporizers, one low pressure pipeline to the Power plant, and one high-pressure pipeline to the natural gas distribution pipeline.
- The boil off gas system [BOG] consisting of the LNG tank vapor space, the common BOG header, the flare system; the BOG suction drum, the BOG compressors, and the vapor return system to the ship.
- Chill loop system consisting of a glycol circulating loop located and operated in the power plant, a methanol circulating loop operated in the LNG plant, and the LNG send out system located in the LNG plant.
The LNG jetty area is protected by Water hydrants, Base monitor and tower monitor system, fixed deluge type water curtain systems & Medium velocity water spray system. One main and one stand by diesel engine driven pump draw seawater directly from below the pump house for fire water requirement.
The process area is protected by dedicated Hydrant-monitor system, Supplementary foam monitor system and fixed deluge system. Firewater storage comprises of 2 nos. interconnected equal sized above ground tanks. One main and one standby motor driven Jockey pump, One main pump motor driven and One main and One standby diesel engine driven pump is used to draw water from the storage tanks for Hydrant and Fixed deluge system during any emergency fire.
iFluids Engineering has been entrusted to perform the Firewater network adequacy and OISD & PNGRB standard compliance of the existing firewater system in Jetty and Process-Tank farm area for the existing fire water demand.
The Fire water adequacy analysis study objectives were as follows:
- Hydrant & Deluge system modelling:
The hydrant and deluge system in the Jetty area and Process area is modelled in a fluid flow analysis software based on the provided layout and relevant drawing documents. Separate models were prepared for Jetty area, Process-Tankage Hydrant system and Process-Tankage Deluge system.
- Firewater system hydraulic analysis
Pressure, velocity, flow and fire water demand for single fire and double fire scenario from each software model is compared is analyzed and compared with calculated firewater demand. Orifice diameter (wherever present) is optimized to meet the required fire water demand in the software model.
- Existing network standard compliance check:
The existing fire water network is analyzed for compliance of latest OISD and PNGRB guidelines. Based on the study, recommendations are provided wherever there were deviations from the standard guidelines.
- Drawing and Datasheet preparation:
Datasheets for Restriction orifice plate, HVLR, Deluge valve, new fire water pumps, pressure transmitter and hydrant is provided, Drawings for recommended modifications in Fire-water network is provided.
