Technical HSE support for the FEED New Port Control Tower facility in Ras Laffan Port – AEB

Project Background:

Ras Laffan Port is located within the Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLIC), on the northern part of the State of Qatar. The port provides loading facilities for the export of LNG, Condensate and other associated liquid products from the Petrochemical Industries based at RLIC. The RLIC Port facilities include LNG berths, associated liquid product berths, bulk sulphur berths, container terminal, general cargo berths, ship repair and dry docks.

The existing Port Control Tower previously offered unrestricted visual and radar monitoring of the Port area and its approaches. With the expansion of the Port under the current Master Plan, a number of developments such as the Common Sulphur Facility obstruct part of the existing Port Control Tower’s line of vision and impose constraints on the operability of the Vessel Traffic Centre and Port control functions

A FEED package for a new port control tower was developed in 2015 that encompassed the whole facility at a location adjacent to the Common Sulphur Facilities area.

However, due to expansions in the Sulphur Facilities area for the NFX project, the land previously identified for the Port Control Tower is no longer available. As a result, the new Port Control Tower will be built at a newly identified location.

Objective:

The objective is to carry out FEED for a new fit-for-purpose Port Control Tower and all related infrastructures, at the selected location in Ras Laffan Port.
