Outcome
The audits implemented structured safety procedures such as the use of checklists for high-risk tasks, increasing safety signage, enhancing hazard awareness at gas/sample points, and provided targeted training to both regular and contract personnel and reduced human error and improved emergency preparedness.
1. Safety Audit for Greenfield Chemical Plant of M/s. GRP Limited
For M/s. GRP Limited, iFluids Engineering conducted a detailed HAZOP study, safety audit and safety gap analysis during the planning phase of their Greenfield project to help mitigate potential operational risks at the design stage. The safety audit aims to ensure that plant operations and maintenance activities align with applicable Indian health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations. It also serves to evaluate the effectiveness of the current Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS), highlighting both areas of strength and opportunities for improvement. The audit will cover key elements including the company’s HSE policy, safety objectives and targets, risk assessments and job safety analyses, organizational structure, competency and training, documented procedures, operational controls, emergency preparedness, incident management, audit and inspection processes, review mechanisms, and initiatives for continuous improvement. This comprehensive review supports the plant’s commitment to maintaining regulatory compliance and fostering a culture of safety and ongoing enhancement.
2. Safety Audit for The Andhra Petrochemicals Ltd.
At APL, the audit was carried out in accordance with IS 14489 across major process units, including the Synthesis Gas, Aldehyde, Alcohol, and Butanol units, as well as utility systems and offsite storage areas. The purpose of the safety audit is to conduct a systematic and critical appraisal of all potential hazards associated with personnel, plant, services, and operational methods. Additionally, it aims to ensure that the Occupational Safety and Health (OS&H) system not only complies with all applicable legal requirements but also aligns with the company’s established safety policies, objectives, and performance expectation.
