Quantitative Risk Assessment(QRA) for New LPG loading gantry

Nestling in the sylvan environs of the Brahmaputra valley where the beautiful rendezvous of water and land throws up myriad colours, Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), located at Numaligarh in the district of Golaghat (Assam) in accordance with the provisions made in the historic Assam Accord signed on 15th August 1985, has been conceived as a vehicle for speedy industrial and economic development of the region.

The assessment was based on the hazards that may occur during the operations of the project according information available. The scope of the project consists of performing Quantitative Risk Assessment for New LPG loading gantry of Numaligarh refinery. Any other facilities that are not part of the proposed Complex operations are not included as part of this study.

The study is carried out to evaluate the potential risk levels for personnel due to accidental release of hazardous materials from release scenarios from the facilities and to demonstrate that individual risks and societal risks are within the broadly acceptable regions. Risk reducing measures are recommended to ensure that all risks are in ALARP or in Acceptable region.

The study objectives are as follows:

  3. Assessment of the risk
  4. Risk Evaluation
  5. Risk elimination/reduction
