Quantitative Risk Assessment For Warehouse

Quantitative Risk Assessment for Warehouse comprises 21 units comprising – Ground Floor, Office Building 1 & 2 – G+4 Floors, Security & Drivers Dormitory – Ground Floor and other utilities with total built-up area of about 2,42,815 Sq.m of  M/s. Integrated Chennai Business Park (India) Private Limited. The Warehouse consists of 40% of Industrial goods storage (Steel / Automobile Components, Equipments, etc.), 20% of Assembly (Electrical & Electronics), 15% of Pharmaceuticals, 15% of Chemicals storage and handling, 10% of Cold Storage.

Total Storage Capacity (Covered Area) -4,52,681 Tons

Total Storage Capacity (Open Area) – 2,27,850 Tons

Total Storage Capacity of project – 6,80,531 Tons

The main objective of this study is to evaluate the potential risk levels for personnel due to accidental release of hazardous materials from loss of containment scenarios from the facilities and to demonstrate that individual risks are within the broadly acceptable regions. The Objectives of QRA are as follows:

  • Hazard identification and selection of failure case scenarios
  • Calculation of physical effects of failure case scenarios which include Estimation of Jet Fire, Pool Fire heat radiation distances, Flammable gas dispersion distances, and Overpressure explosion distances
  • Failure Frequency evaluation
  • Societal risk quantification and Potential Loss of Life estimation
  • Perform a risk assessment to confirm that risk can be reduced consistent with the ALARP principle according to the UK HSE risk acceptance criteria
  • Recommend risk reducing measures to ensure that all risks are in ALARP or in Acceptable region
