To ensure intrinsic safety and availability of the upcoming facility, a HAZOP study was conducted with the objective of identifying hazard and operational concerns sufficiently early on to allow overcoming of identified problems in time. The HAZOP study was made to improve diesel production and quality in the VGO MHC Unit with safety being the utmost priority.
PFDs, Schematic, Cause and Effect, Process Design Basis & P&IDs for the system and associated equipment were used for the HAZOP study. Over and above these documents, several other documents were used for reference these includes for e.g., equipment specification etc. and others as necessary.
The HAZOP methodology defined in this Procedure was framed based on below mentioned Standards:
- ICI method described by the Chemical Industries Association for HAZOPs, and
- Industrial best practices as outlined in the:
- CCPS (AIChE) Guideline for Hazard Evaluation Procedures (2nd edition),
- BS IEC 61882: 2001 HAZOP Studies – Application Guide.
