HAZard & OPerability (Hazop) Study For Hot Slag Cooling Facility

Harsco India Private limited has awarded iFluids Engineering to carry out Hazard & Operability study for Hot slag cooling facility.

The hot slag pot containing molten slag at approximately 1400 °C from the steel mill is received and poured into the steam box which is made ready for the same. Whilst the next hot slag pot is being transported, poured molten slag will be raked with an excavator to distribute evenly and break up any large lumps formed during the transportation for better cooling. The second hot slag pot will be poured and the similar process shall be repeated and then steam box lid is closed and initiates cooling activity.

The objective of the HAZOP (Hazard & Operability) study is to aid in managing project risk through early identification of hazards and operability problems and to reduce the probability and consequences of an incident that would have a detrimental impact to the personnel, plant, properties and environment.
