Overview
The safety audit was completed for Isosynth Labs Pvt Ltd to determine the most suitable location for installing a 2L autoclave at their newly developed laboratory facility. As part of their lab expansion in a 3-storey building near the Bangalore Bio-innovation Centre, the study aimed to ensure compliance with safety standards and best engineering practices. iFluids Engineering carried out the assessment and provided recommendations based on safety and operational criteria. The audit involved a detailed evaluation of three potential installation sites through site visits and a structured checklist approach. The project concluded with the identification of the safest and most efficient location to support the lab’s enzyme synthesis activities.
Methodology of the Autoclave

Project Insights
- The control panel was mounted on the wall (not on a trolley) opposite to the autoclave, ensuring it remained visible from outside even when the door was closed.
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and a safety checklist were developed and followed during the handling of the autoclave and oxygen cylinders.
- A shed was constructed for storing all cylinders, effectively preventing direct exposure to sunlight.
- A permit-to-work system was implemented, and a logbook was maintained for all handling activities.
- A maintenance log was consistently recorded to track all service and upkeep activities.
